Dr Vilelmini Sosoni holds a BA in English Language and Linguistics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1996) a DU in Translation from the University of Strasbourg (1996) an MA in Translation (1997) as well as a PhD in Translation and Text Linguistics (2004) from the University of Surrey. She has taught Specialised Translation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Surrey, the University of Westminster, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Institut Français d’ Athènes (IFA), Roehampton University and the Ionian University where she was appointed Lecturer in 2010. She also has extensive industrial experience having worked as freelance translator, editor and subtitler, as well as in-house project manager and translator. She is a member of the “Centre for Research in Translation and Transcultural Studies” and a member of the editorial board for the international journals Jostrans and Intercultural and Intersemiotic Translation. Her research interests lie in the areas of the Translation of Institutional, Legal, Political and Economic Texts, Text Linguistics and Corpus Linguistics and Translation, Machine Translation (MT) and AVT. She has participated in EuropeAid projects, translation and interpreter training projects and has published articles in international journals and edited volumes. Finally, she currently participates in the Eurolect Observatory research project and in the TraMOOC project funded under H2020-ICT-2014/H2020-ICT-2014-1 (Grant Agreement number 644333).
