University assistant predoctoral, University of Vienna

As a university assistant prae doc in the field of Interpreting Studies with a special focus on Dialogue Interpreting/Community Interpreting, you will join the research team of Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Sonja Pöllabauer. In total, two positions are to be filled. We expect you to successfully complete your doctoral thesis in a related subject along with your contribution to research projects. 

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially, it will be limited to 1,5 years and will automatically be extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. 

Your future tasks

You set of responsibilities includes, but is not limited to: 

  • You are actively involved in research, teaching and related administration
  • We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months and to actively work on its successful completion..
  • You contribute to organizing meetings, research publications and presentations
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You take care in the supervision of students.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality

  • Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of Translation Studies
  • Research interest in Community Interpreting
  • Knowledge of the theories and methods of Translation Studies with a focus on Interpreting Studies 
  • Basic experience in academic writing and with research methods
  • Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German and English as well as another language offered at the CTS
  • Very good IT-user skills
  • Teamwork and high social competencies

Desireable knowledge is ...

  • E-learning teaching experience
  • Master*s/diploma thesis in the field of Community Interpreting
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • .Basic experience in academic writing (publications in subject-related media)
  • Experience abroad
  • Presentation experience
