Half-time Posts in German/French Interpreting

Two half-time posts in German and French Conference Interpreting are now available at the University of Manchester.

Candidates with extensive experience of working as conference interpreters and of training interpreters are encouraged to apply for these half-time, teaching-focused lectureships in German/French interpreting. 
 
Fee reductions will be available for any successful candidates wishing to undertake a PhD in Interpreting Studies at the University of Manchester. 
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION 
 
Essential 

• A completed MA (or equivalent) in translation or interpreting studies or related discipline 

• Successful experience as a conference interpreter, with either (i) English A and German/French B/C or (ii) German/Fremch A and English B 

• Successful experience of training interpreters 

• A willingness and capacity to engage with the interpreting profession and developments in the wider discipline 

• Familiarity with the literature on interpreting and translation 

• Familiarity with generic and specialist IT applications, including virtual learning environments 

• The ability to fulfil required administrative responsibilities effectively 

• Excellent interpersonal skills 

• A demonstrable commitment to collegiality and the skills to work as part of a team 
 
Desirable 

• An additional working language (e.g. Russian) 

• Experience of training translators 

• Professional accreditation (e.g. AIIC membership) 

• A PhD in translation or interpreting studies or related discipline
