Following the success of the three previous editions of the workshop on Multi-word Units in Machine Translation and Translation Technology (MUMTTT) we are announcing the fourth edition to be held in conjunction with the International Conference “Computational and Corpus-based Phraseology’ (Europhras’2019)” which is jointly organised by the European Association for Phraseology EUROPHRAS, the University of Malaga (Research Group in Lexicography and Translation), the University of Wolverhampton (Research Group in Computational Linguistics) and the Association for Computational Linguistics – Bulgaria.
The MUMTTT workshop will be held on the last day of the Europhras’2019 conference, namely on 27th September 2019. It will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners in the fields of (Computational) Linguistics, (Computational) Phraseology, Translation Studies and Translation Technology to discuss recent advances in the area of multi-word unit processing and to coordinate research efforts across disciplines in order to improve the integration of multi-word units in machine translation and translation technology tools.

The MUMTTT 2019 workshop invites the submission of papers reporting on original and unpublished research on topics related to MWU processing in machine translation and translation technology, including:

- Lexical, syntactic, semantic and translational aspects in MWU representation
- Theoretical approaches to MWUs (e.g., collostructional analysis of MWU, cognitive approaches to processing MWUs, etc.)
- Development of multilingual MWU resources
-Identification and acquisition of MWUs and variants
-Learning semantic information about MWUs from monolingual, parallel or comparable corpora
-Development and use of MWU resources in machine translation and translation technology
-Development of corpora for the extraction and translation of MWUs
-Compilation of resources for the extraction and translation of multiword units
-Creation of MWU-annotated corpora with a focus on translation aspects
-Paraphrasing of MWUs applied to the improvement of machine translation
-MWUs and word alignment techniques
-MWUs in machine translation
-MUWs in translation memory systems
-MUWs in term extraction
-MWU-centred machine translation evaluation
-Evaluation of MWU translation
-MWUs in CAT tools
-Multilingualism and MWU processing
-Psycholinguistic studies of MWU processing in a bilingual setting.

Submission Guidelines
Submissions must consist of full-text papers and should not exceed 7 pages excluding references.
A selection of papers will be invited to submit an extended version for the second volume of Multiword Units in Machine Translation and Translation Technology to be published by John Benjamins by the end of 2019.
They must be formatted according to the ACL 2017 style guidelines available both for Word and LaTeX text processor. Each submission will be reviewed by at least three programme committee members. Accepted papers will be presented orally or as posters, as determined by the programme committee. There will be no distinction in the workshop proceedings between papers presented orally or as posters. The proceedings will be published both as e-proceedings with ISSN and as an electronic volume with ISBN and will be made available at the time of the conference. The submissions will be maintained by conference management software. Details about the submission page will be provided in the second call for papers.

The Germanic Society for Forensic Linguistics (GSFL) is pleased to announce its SECOND call for papers for its 7th annual conference to be held from September 5-8, 2019 in Graz, Austria. This year’s conference is being held in conjunction with the University of Graz (AUSTRIA). Invited topics for paper and poster abstracts include but are not limited to the following areas: FORENSIC PHONETICS AND ACOUSTICS; FORENSIC LINGUISTICS; LANGUAGE AND LAW; TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION; FL/FP AND EDUCATION.

Submissions may examine any language but preference will be given to abstracts investigating a Germanic language (i.e. English, Danish, Dutch, German, Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Afrikaans, Frisian, Yiddish, etc.). Submissions must be in either English, German, or Danish. After the deadline, all abstracts will be submitted to a triple blind review by a team of Fl/FP experts. The second thematic issue is: “Translation and Sustainability”. Contributions should be submitted by Thursday, July 31, 5pm (NZDT). The authors of the selected contributions will be notified by August 15. The final submission date for any revised contribution is Friday, September 20, 5pm. The issue will go live on Friday, September 27, 5pm ahead of International Translation Day.

There is no deadline for non-thematic issue, as the papers are published on an ongoing basis.

Author Guidelines

All contributions should be submitted as RTF attachment, follow APA referencing style and be accompanied by: a statement of authorship; copyright clearance where required; a 200-word abstract and a 100-word biographical note.

In terms of word limit:

a) non-thematic and thematic essays should be between 3000 and 5000 words;

b) interviews should be between 2000 and 3000 words;

c) translations should be up to 1500 words regardless of genre;

d) book reviews should be up to 2000 words;

e) captions have no prescribed word limit. Relevant images are welcomed and should be 300 dpi and copyright-clear.

The Institute of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is seeking to appoint a

Professor (f/m) of Translation and Interpreting studies

(40 hours per week; permanent employment according to the Austrian Law on Salaried Employment (AngG); expected starting date January 1st 2020 )

The successful candidate will be expected to represent the Institute’s Research Focus “Translation, Migration and Minorities”. She/he conducts theoretical and empirical research on translation in the contexts of ethno-cultural diversity, migration and/or social diversity. Her/his research is innovative, internationally visible, and interdisciplinary and explores translation and/or interpreting as historical and/or topical fields of tensions against the background of ideological, political, social and/or cultural barriers. Her/his research projects constitute significant contributions to the development of this Research Focus. In her/his research-based teaching s/he will cover a wide range of translation and interpreting studies topics and will teach courses on the Institute’s bachelor’s and master’s programmes and teach on the Faculty’s doctoral programme. S/he will supervise bachelor’s and master’s as well as doctoral theses in translation and interpreting studies. S/he will assume administrative responsibilities within the Institute and the Faculty.

Requirements for employment

• Completion of an appropriate university degree at a university in Austria or abroad
• Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Translation and/or Interpreting Studies or other disciplines related to the described area of research
• Excellent scientific qualification in research and teaching for the relevant subject (relative to academic age)Internationally visible research activities (publications, conferences)
• Pertinent work experience abroad after Master's degree
• Experience with acquisition of third-party funds
• Management and leadership experience, communication skills and cooperative leadership style
• Competence and interest in interdisciplinary research, cooperativeness with the Institute's other Research Foci
• Command of German adequate for leadership and administrative roles associated with the position
• Gender mainstreaming competence
