The department is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting from 1st September 2017 to 31 August 2018. The appointed candidate will be responsible for delivering a theory module on the Principles of Translation and Interpreting and also contribute to the teaching of Technologies of Translation. The core teaching will be at the postgraduate level to a mixed group of students pursing MA studies in TI in different modern language strands. It is crucial that the successful applicant is able to develop and deliver the core theoretical module that brings together the underlying principles that are then pursued in individual language strands. The appointed candidate will also contribute to the supervision of MA dissertations and form a part of the joint delivery of TI programmes. The ability to offer or contribute to a module on L2 Writing would be an advantage.
Qualifications and skills required
The successful candidate will have a post-graduate qualification in a relevant area, with demonstrable recent professional experience of translation and interpreting teaching/work. You should also have a professional qualification in translation and interpreting. Whilst this post is directed at teaching and scholarship, a strong research background will be essential to fulfil the department’s goal to deliver research-led teaching.
