Job Description:
The Program of Comparative Literature in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Translation Studies and Comparative Literature, including periodic large lecture courses. The effective starting date is September 1, 2018.
Requirements:
Ph.D. in hand by August 2018. Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, Translation Studies, or other field related to literary studies with a demonstrated research focus on translation and literature, and with demonstrated expertise in translation theory.
The candidate should also demonstrate active involvement in the discipline of Translation Studies as well as excellence in teaching, outstanding scholarly potential or record, strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and professional engagement. We particularly welcome candidates with solid experience or training in non-European languages and cultures, dynamic scholars specializing in research across several languages and cultures, and scholars with expertise in the history of translation, audiovisual translation, or the relationship of translation and literary scholarship.
